wind-up torches, radios etc
wind-up torches, radios etc
Any recommendations for these? Also is there any other type of self-powering equipment I should consider for a scenario when the batteries run out?

chemical lighting is always a good choice small lasts a few hours, and there are solar powered lighting that you can buy.

ive had mixed results with wind up stuff.
have a very good, small radio/torch combo, will have to check where from.
ive also had stuff that i thought would last and then it just doesnt.
the mechanism just dies, and im not very good at repairs (time to learn maybe!!)

I was given a wind up torch years ago. Had the same problem with the mechanism though. Just seemed to stop working.

Hi,
Bought this one and its really good. Small & light, can be used as a torch or lantern. 8hr battery on full charge and decent return on physical charge. Has brightness settings.

I bought a few wind up torches from Asda a couple of months ago for £3 each. Seem to work alright and you have the option of using 1 led or all 3 at the same time. Might not be heavy duty but could get you out of a fix!

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Once the SHTF thousands of other people are gonna want the same as you. What do you think your chances are of getting it?.......

I tend to use unicom branded ones. I have a couple of the wind up torches that I have had a couple of years now and still going strong and also one of their lanterns.
