Hello from North East England

Post by Homesteader »

Hi, My name's Chris and I am new to prepping - about two weeks - and have joined up to find out as much as I can. I'm a fast learner and have been reading this site and several others - many of them are American, which makes them less useful imo, so I'm glad to find a UK site or two (this is the second one I have signed up for).

Basically, after a couple of decsions in the ECHR recently and looking at the way the economy is falling rapidly into a black hole, I finally realised life is not just going to continue in the same old way it has been for decades and I'd better be prepared for when it all collapses.

So far, I have started making lists, which seem to change with every site I read :? . I have also begun buying extras when we go shopping (I live with OH, but the family is grown and flown). So, I'm currently concentrating on food supplies (used strictly in rotation, of course) and a few necessary emergency kits (first aid, what to have on my person, in the car, in case of having to leave home for a few days etc). Also looking at comms in case of a wipeout, that has a decent range so I can get in touch with the offspring if necessary.

In the meantime, we have a decent sized garden, so starting to grow my own. But within the next couple of years, our plan (and we have had this plan for a long time now) is to buy some land in the middle of nowehere, build our own eco house, and go off grid, with animals and gardens all round us. The way the world seems to be going, this could make a suitable bug-in place if we choose it right.

Anyway, the more help the merrier with what to put in my kit(s) and food storage/supplies etc. Hopefully I will be able to contribute now and again too :)
