Shaving

Post by munchh »

We have just found that gillette machIII razors are far cheaper to buy on e-bay than any of the supermarkets (inc Cost Co).

8 for £9, instead of the normal 4 for about £7!

They are so expensive, but i dont like to shave to often anyway.

But i have been looking at straight/cut throught razors as for about £25 you can get a nice modern titanium one and strop, got to be the way to go, anyone already gone back to one?

I was considering a straight razors but I would inevitably hack out large clumps of flesh :D

I just stick with a trimmed beard on a #1, nice and easy to maintain and no pain :D

How about a safety razor http://www.traditionalshaving.co.uk/en/ ... ety-Razors

or a Rolls Razor http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_kw= ... NG+ENGLAND

both good options and resharpening can be a doddle.

I suspect I really might cut-my-throat if I had this: http://www.heinnie.com/Grooming/Boker/A ... 1147-7158/

I like the idea that it is just one piece with nothing to break. Just a new handle now and them?

I bought a vintage straight razor for about £10 some time ago which needed some work. It's almost finished but on top of that I've also spent another £200 on sharpening stones, etc. But I think they will come in handy with other knives, axes and all the others so hopefully it was worth a buy. The razor needs getting used to but it's definitely a preppers shaving tool ;)

Just buy a razor that takes normal razor blades.
You can pick up 100 blades for about £6 if you shop around.

If you use mach 3's and all the other fancy ones you can prolong their life buy stroking them across your jeans about 10 time after you have used them.

Make sure not to go the same way as you would whilst shaving or you will regret it.

Be lucky (and smooth as a baby's bum)

I bought a few packs of the Mach 3 Turbo blades off ebay last year because as you say, it's a lot cheaper. However, although they look similar they definitely aren't, they are cheap knock offs and rip your face to shreds, even on the first shave. I will say I do like to spoil myself a wee bit with my razors but I have been using some of the cheaper disposables here and there just to see if they are any good as I know a few kept in storage will be very handy when the shops are empty! ;)

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Once the SHTF thousands of other people are gonna want the same as you. What do you think your chances are of getting it?.......
