A little while ago I was searching for some MRE's that could go into my 72 hour kit, but without paying the rip-off price tag that comes with most MRE's. I also wanted something which already contained a lot of water in the meal so that I diddn't have to use up any of my drinking water to cook it if possible. One of the members on here mentioned that there is a range called 'Look What We Found' that do a variety of meals including Chicken Tikka, Beef Meatballs, Chilli Con Carne, Beef Casserole, Beef Bolgnese, Chicken and Sage Soup, Chicken Casserole, Pea Apple and Mint Soup; amongst other recipes.
I went and bought a box containing 8 packets of the Chicken Tikka from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Look-Found-Staf ... 576&sr=8-1) which cost £13.65 (works out £1.70 per meal). This is much better value than usual MRE's, although I do understand that these don't offer the same nutrient or calories.
My first intention was to eat the meal cold. It had already been cooked and just needed to be put in the microwave for a couple of minutes, but its unlikely I'll have a microwave lying around with my 72 hour kit. I poured the contence of the pack into a mess tin, I think if it came down to it and I was starving, it wouldn't be a problem but all the time I'm not very hungry I have a problem with eating meals cold (personal problem). Still I went for it and I was very surprised, it has a fantastic taste! Unfortunately I have to say, there wasn't a lot of meat, it was more the consistency of a soup. But still, couldn't fault the taste at all, in fact I would be more than happy to live off these for such a great price!
I'm really quite happy with these meals as alternatives to MRE's, with one exception, the use by date expires in August (and I've just bought them). Not something I would store away but for the price, its not really a problem buying some more every few months and just eat up the old ones. As far as nutritional value goes, I thought this might help out a bit.
All in all, I would give it a 7/10 purely for the short expiry date. But I would recommend them to anyone who's looking for a cheaper alternative to MRE's.
Hope this may have helped

You can buy quite a variety of these singly in Sain$burys for £1.99. They also sell the new tray meals too.
They're retort pouch meals and will not have a long shelf life.

BB dates on newly produced packs of these meals vary a little by ingredients but are normally 6-12 months. I guess the ones you got sent had been on the shelf for a short while. I have had several varieties of these meals myself and must say they are very tasty IMO

Do you have to put your postcode in when doing search?
If so, it means your local store probably doesn't stock them.
