tesco value tinned potatoes

Post by Haplo2481 »

for the last week or so Tesco has reduced the price of it's tinned value potatoes down to 15 pence a tin(in the Reading branch at least). They now have a best before date of jan 2016. I know a lot of snobs think that value lines aren't worth buying but in my experience they are nutricious and filling and for us lower paid workers an affordable part of daily life let alone prepping. I usually try a tin of what ever I plan to stock up on before I buy a load to make sure that I can enjoy what I store.

I just thought it worth mentioning that people should at least try the cheaper options as I have a few friends who only pay fro the best.

I'm not sure about the Tescos tinned taters but I found the ASDA value ones disintegrate a bit, may be just the batch I tried, so i tried the Aldi ones and they're OK, so try some before you buy a shed load ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Tesco Tinned potatoes are ok as a stand by. They do disintegrate a little but are filling and easy to warm up. Have sliced and fried them and they make nice chippy type things to go with bacon and egg.
I have them in the stores but aim to use fresh first.

I use the Sainsbo version, their Basics range. I love them! Don't use them a lot, but every now and then :)

i have some as well , makes no differance were they come from ,asda , morrisons or tesco .

mashed or whole , sliced and fried or deep fried with veg and yourchoice or meat . its a quick meal .
i still prefer fresh but when thats not an option they make do.

I work from home, and don't eat wheat ... so for me, its a quicker lunch than gluten free pasta :D and my taste buds betray me, I *like* cheap food
