Hi everyone. Totally new to all of this. Been interested for a while but only recently thought to check the web for UK community's for prepping and so here I am. I have not yet decided as to what extent I'm going to take this interest, although I do believe we're on the edge of a major economic downfall in this country so I like the idea of having the comfort of knowing that my wife and I and our families would be safe.
A wee bit about me... I'm 26, recently married and also recently made redundant. Not all bad though, I have returned to study and I'm looking to the future in terms of a better career path and a comfortable financial future for my wife and I. My wife does not know I am thinking of prepping. She does not watch the news or read papers but I keep her up to date and she knows that I believe the economy is in trouble.
I haven't started prepping as such yet. Although from what I've been reading here and elsewhere I might already have been prepping for some time to an extent. We're monthly shoppers and even at the end of the month usually have pretty full cupboards, so if something happened tomorrow, we'd be ok for at least 4-6 weeks in terms of food. Before I was made redundant, I worked in a shop which sold a wide range of products and whenever items would go on sale at ridiculously cheap prices, myself and other staff would snap them up - As such as I have a decent amount of personal hygiene and healthcare products packed away in drawers.
One of the other reasons I have for thinking of prepping is that, I am ashamed to admit - I have absolutely no survival skills whatsoever. I want to learn how to be self sufficient and learns first aid. Prepping a side, I need to learn basic life skills which I have been shielded from my whole life due to the time and age we live in.
Looking forward to learning more from this community.

Hello and welcome! I'm another newbie and like you, just starting out really. It's all a bit overwhelming at first, so I've decided to do one thing every week or so and take it slowly...
