Cow Juice

Post by 24942895 »

Can anyone recommend a powdered milk that can be spooned into a brew as well as make-up a quantity of milk that doesn't taste like ****?
just a number, nothing to see here, move along now..

I have to avoid dairy so my cow juice alternative is Soya milk - see link.

The bonus for me in terms of prepping is the Best Before date is always 12+ mths away. I keep around 20 litres at the moment and simply rotate the stock as it's used. The price is competitive with all other milk and in my opinion it tastes great, well the sweetened version does!

Not sure if this helps or whether for some reason you're set on powder milk - in which case I wish you luck on your quest :D

I used to use soya milk as I had a couple of years of issues with dairy (gut a bit fooked, too many strong painkillers for a few years) and it's an acquired taste but quite acceptable, I just thought of UHT milk instead of powdered, unless anyone has any personal experience on which is ok and which tastes like **** I'll try some cheap UHT's and then build a stock.

The best UHT I have come across( and stock-and use), is Co-op own. I use the semi skim. It is pretty good IMO.

i use asda`s own UHT , ive used it 3 months passed the date on the bottle and it was fine so not to critical to rotate it on time . i all so have a stock of marvel and coffee whitener just in case .
ok whitener in tea does take a bit of getting used to , but its drinkable .

I did find a powdered milk that didn't taste like Kak but it was a while back and I wasn't into this lifestyle at the time....... Have to see if I can drag the name out of the depths

Best tasting milk powder I've found is Nestle Nido whole milk powder. You can find it in the world foods section in Morrisons. Mokate Coffee whitener is pretty darn good too from 99p store.
