Any gardening book specifically geared towards survival rather than recreational gardening is bound to be worth a read I told myself as I coughed up £13 a few months ago and when it finally landed though my letterbox the other day I wasn’t disappointed.
There’s a lot of knowledge crammed in there as well as a fair bit of (well balanced) criticism levelled the ‘sacred cows’ currently in fashion, which's naturally earned him a fair bit of stick online.

It is not a bad book-as they go. However, the IDEA of gardening , WHEN it counts, is relative. This year HALF if my 'income' is from my acre of ground, animals and polytunnel(s). I was a little disillusioned by the book,as it seemed to concentrate on the USA seed industry.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Well suppose that was his area professionally, although I did find it quite interesting and certainly refreshing to read something other than the ‘heirloom hype’ you see so much of on the net.
