Hello All,

I have decided to join this forum because of a growing sense of unease about the direction and stability of our society.

Perhaps being the father of a young daughter has brought home to me my own responsibilities to protect and provide for my family regardless of the state of things. Certainly, I see no reason to be optimistic about the economy which, for as long as money continues to be created as interest-bearing debt, is drawing wealth and property from the mass of individuals and families and redistributing it 'upwards' to a relatively small elite. Further, it is clear that the moral degradation of the youth is leading to a society that is hyper-sexualised and aggressive. The prospects of neighbourly cooperation in the event of a collapse of some sort may be imaginable in the smaller towns and villages, but not in the massive urban conurbations of Scotland and England.

Finally, as a traditional Catholic, I cannot turn a deaf ear to the warnings that have been given since 1830 - and then much more insistently since Fatima in 1917 - that something terrible is coming. Long before people began to speak of the "NWO", Popes and Saints in the 19th Century were warning against the moves to create the "World Republic" and a "Universal Religion". For those who are interested, the horrible Church scandals of the last 40 years were also prophesied by a number of Saints. Something wicked this way comes...

So, what to do? I'd like at least to start preparing for the possibility of a temporary breakdown. Thoughts of food stores, medical equipment, a diesel generator etc come to mind. But I am not sure where and how to begin. We're not wealthy, so whatever preparations we make will need to be within a budget.

At any rate, I look forward to learning about "prepping" from you all!

Don't worry. That has no part in my practical planning! Just wanted to explain my own motivation for preparing.
