Hi all,
I am David from Reading. I am a blacksmith working in oxfordshire. I have been into bushcraft and wild camping for years but have been drifting into prepping self sufficiency over the last few years. i make fire steels, knives and all manner of things for the great outdoors. some projects might need advice and i may have knowledge that others could use (its possible...) this seems like the ideal forum.
all the best

Hi Ferromancer,
A blacksmith no less. Something I'm interested in getting into too. I'm mainly working with wood, especially green wood, but I'd like to couple it with blacksmithing, to enable me to make ironmongery and fittings to accompany the wooden stuff I make. I saw some really lovely forges made by a guy calling himself the iron dwarf, or some such name. He was an interesting, very capable guy, making some really sturdy, well made forges - to order if you choose. His prices were also really competitive - even 'cheap' I'd say. I've kept his info slip for when/if we move or I can make some more space available here to install a forge.
Nice to make your acquaintance.
