Old survivalist new age preper

Post by lee3 »

Hello
Have taken a few days reading through this site :-) I am relatively new to internet gadgetry so excuse me if it takes a while
Ooo just noticed the smiley faces! Should have used one of those above!
As a youth I was a cub then scout then venture scout! Is that too embarrassing to admit? Lol which led on to survivalism never met anyone with similar interests and have kept my thoughts on the fragility of our 'society' to my self while staying aware and preparing for the worst ..... Maybe not in HUGE ways but always liked the phrase better to have and not need than need and not have .... My philosophy has always been keep it simple mobile and stealthy .... But I digress .... I also apologise for my wandering mind! Old age. Creeping in  hmmmm hope that's the little embarrassed smiley!
Anyhoo great to find there are others with my 'hobby' (always easier to explain it away as a hobby with loved ones! Although with my insisting now grown up children drag "go bags" around with them I'm surprised I haven't been committed already! Lol)
Anyway it will take me a while to get used to all the new terminology ... Like "prepers" not survivalist? I caught a TV documentary on UK prepers Hence me finding this site and am finding it an interesting resource and some fascinating debates .... Maybe I'm sane after all? ... Particularly like the debate on firearms! .... Emotive! Am also very interested in the whole area. Coordination thing.... How many prepers are out there....or even on here? Is there enough for a network of short range radio comms? Has anyone seen the wind up base camp short range radio/FM/MW radio combo? Looks pretty rugged and cheap! .... Bit like me! Lol anyway I could ramble like this for a while! Henze me not putting in my two pennysworth with some of the discussions on here ..... But give me time I promise I will try at least to be concise ...PS I am area 1 apparently ...
