Free First Aid Training

Post by madmedic »

Over a coffee the other day me and Redskies decided that we wanted to learn what the other knows about first aid..

I am a Military Paramedic, an IHCD instructer, Team Medic instructor and FAW/FPOS instructor.
Redskies is more the complementary along with herbal and natural remedies. (may want to better explain later)

together we were thinking of organizing a weekend of free training somewhere in scotland. the only cost would be running costs for weekend, (somewhere to stay, brew kit, etc) and we would offer services free.

we were thinking of running training in tactical medic, basic Life support, bit of remote medicine, and then Redskies stuff.. then some beer!!

let one of us know if you are interested..

Explain better later? Perhaps it would be better if I did that. I can guess what it'll end up as if I leave it to you!

I've got over twenty years experience in using grass cures, herbs, oils and what amounts, basically, to the contents of your kitchen cupboards - or the plants at the roadside - to treat everything from grazes to eczema. I can show you how to heal an infected wound with not much more than garlic, honey and salt. Or what plants are best to use to prevent infection and stop bleeding. There's lots more, but those are the basics. Who knows, you might get stuck without your first aid kit, or, worse, run out of supplies! I'm also happy to recommend helpful books and answer any questions you might have.

And, of course, I'm very happy to help drink the beer - if the course was longer than a weekend, I could show you how to brew the stuff out of heather or pine needles :)

First of all, thank you to both of you for offering up your time and skill for something so important. I know there is a lot we could learn from the both of you. I look forward to hearing more of the details once you have things arranged. I will be coming along.

Fantastic offer, thank you! It totally depends on whether I can book a train ticket that costs less than an arm and a leg (need to do it some time in advance, I'm on the south coast of England) and also whether I'm well enough, been ill for 6 weeks with virus and nausea, travelling to the next town is impossible at the mo :(

Arzosah, check out megabus. Very cheap if you book well in advance, although I confess I'd rather have my bladder explode than use the onboard bog!

Get yourself some echinacea, to boost your immune system. Eat probiotic yogurt, one every day. Take vitamin D, which also boosts your immune system. Peppermint and/or ginger tea will help with the nausea. Feel better soon :)

For me it is likely to be early part of next year.. weather dependant. Once we get a few more names we will decide a date to suit the most people.. for people traveling a long way easyjet is also quite cheap and collection at airport easy to arrange.. i can also be quite flexible on location.

Same for me. Work means I've got January and February free, then it's nose to the grindstone time again.

Hi I'm very interested although you are talking the other end of our island so will need lots of notice to book holiday with work .... Not so much into the beer drinking I'm afraid ... But sure I could find an alternative on that score ... Would love to bring some stuff back to teach my children
Thanks
