Before building a BoB there are some questions you need to ask yourself.
Why am I going?
Where am I going?
How long am I going for?
Who is going with me?
These will help you with the "What do I need?" part
Here is a link to a thread on a US site, its about a competition to build a three-day, one-man, replicatable bag on a budget.....Loads of great ideas
You seem to be very light on food, shelter and water provision and heavy on tools (machete and an axe ? Three multitools? and why crossbow bolts ?)
Could you explain your reasoning behind the S-10?
I can understand if civil-unrest is one of your possible Bug-out triggers, but if its you, a 6YO and your wife..... Who gets to wear it when the tear-gas flys ?
I'd add:
Cordage, 550 paracord and some string (because sometimes you don't need paracord to tie something up)
Water bottle (at least one in everybody's kit, 1 Litre size like a '58 for you and her, smaller one for the Little), maybe a good sized bladder for you (and her) as well.
Milbank bag, or some other course-filter (a lot of Yanks seem to like coffee-filters, these are only single use though) to get the grit and grot out of your water prior to treatment
Hiking Filter, you just cannot carry enough water. Make sure it removes Viruses or you'll still have to boil or chemical treat.
If you're going to have water tablets you'll need more then six, and make sure they're the clorine type* as iodine is bad for Littles, pregnant people and anyone with a dicky-ticker (and a few other medical problems, but these are the commonest)
* I think the Issue ones are, but check
A Firesteel (Ferrocium rod), should be an EDC item but weighes little and outlasts almost any other firestarter
I'm a firm believer in a decent cooking pot with a lid.
Blanket, sleeping bag, Woobie, camping quilt or WHY, one for you and one for her at least (Little likely to be sharing for comfort and warmth)
Thats what I've got for now.
Well done so far
