I knew that somewhere in the furthest recesses of my mind I'd read that aspirin had other uses other than painkilling etc but couldn't remember what they were...so I scouted around and found this...

It was the use on bites that I'd heard of before but there are some other useful tips here too. Anyone tried them?!

Re: Other uses for aspirin
One of its MOST important uses imo is 300 mg chewed by a person with a suspected heart attack obviously only a trained medical person be it a paramedic or doctor can "perscribe" a drug to a patient but a grown adult can take one of their own free will
That said I'd force one down the neck of a family member if I had to

I would just like to clarify as a First Aid Instructor . . . . If you suspect anyone is having a heart attack you don't need to be a doctor to impact on someone's chance of survival give them 300mg of aspirin to chew this is an acceptable form of first aid and aspirin is unlikely to do any harm should you be mistaken.

Did you know that willow bark contains salicin which is the ingredient in aspirin so if you find that you have run out, chewing on some bark will alleviate headache symptoms.

Then again I think half of it was how to avoid litigation and how to do a head to foot check without been accusd of "touching up" a patient by not checking the inner thighs above the knee.... Which was useless advice when you come across a fallen motorcyclist with a badly bleeding torn /impact damaged penis and scrotum......

Many years ago when I was a Butcher I stabbed my inner thigh near the femoral Artery which is above the knee. Hmmm better not do it now as I would not get any help!

As said, anyone can offer someone Aspirin. It is not a prescribed, controlled or restricted drug.
The only caveat would be tell the ambulance crew (or other receiving carer) what they took, when and how much.
Likewise for Paracetamol, especially in cases of fever.
