Re: Freeze dried cheese !
Interesting, the cheese is about three times the price.
£2.50 for 150 g opposed to £1.00 for 170 g (cheap own brand chedder)...... However, I'm not sure what the water content is.
The Biltong I've bought in the past is half the weight of the raw meat so even assuming that cheese is less wet then steak, it becomes quite reasonable
I'm now going to have to taste test it.....Thanks Vebi for helping me make a pauper of myself

Re: Freeze dried cheese !
I thought you couldn't preserve fats using this method or am I getting mixed up here with dehydrating?
I a little lacking in knowledge here as I don't plan on dehydrating myself.. and its highly unlikely I will be able to in my SHTF scenarios..
Nice to see its a UK company making this product though.. I might call them and ask about their recommended shelf-life.
Has anyone bought any and is it tasty?

I am not sure, but when I dehydrate fruit or veg at home it is a lengthy process. Lio-liscious's website suggests that the freeze drying process is rapid. maybe that makes the difference?DundeePrepper wrote:I thought you couldn't preserve fats using this method or am I getting mixed up here with dehydrating?

This would appear to be the same company that makes Mountain House for the European Market.
