Post by generaldogsbody »

Just found this forum.I used to do a lot of fishing and camping,i am very intrested in learning prepping and surviving off grid.Only thing is,i think it's to late for me.I am unfit, over waight, and in my 50s.The thing is i really want to lose waight, and i am doing so,and i want to get fit enough to survive out in the wild, or at least have a chance if the S.H.T.F. It's gonna take a while, but i am motivated.I look forward to reading this forum.Thanks.

Welcome.

A change in mindset is always a good place to start.

If you are looking at being more self sufficient growing your own food is a great way to get fit and lose weight. You'll be surprised at how physical being in the garden or allotment can be.

Making subtle changes to your daily routine will help too - take the stars instead of the lift, get off the bus one stop earlier and walk.

As you look at what food you store you will think about meal preparation. That leads to a healthier lifestyle too. Always having food in stock means no more last minute takeaways because there's nothing to eat.

And it's never too late to start prepping - shtf is not all about bugging out to the woods!

Hi Generaldogsbody, it's never too late! I'm in my fifties, slightly overweight, but I stand up all day (for work), and then I cycle about 5 kilometers a day, (18 in summer). If I can do it, so can you, take it slow, set yourself small goals, that are easily attainable. Camp in the garden, and when you're ready, camp in the big outdoors.
