Thanks for the welcome guys

That would be great I love sharing and gaining knowledge on outdoor survival
I take my two sons out into the wild to pass on the things that I know so that if anything happens to me I know they can survive and look after there mum and sister .
We usually only take what we can carry on our backs as we need to hike some distance
I always have emergency supplies in the car when we go ie shelter food water
But when we leave the car they get left aswell and we live off the land for days at a time making shelter gathering food and water and having a good old time :). The boys love it and I love teaching them in this way because there are no distractions such as phones or playstations.

For 2014 they will be using all the skills they have learned so far and we will be going on a mock scenario trip to the wild for a couple of weeks I'm planning on throwing in a couple of tests while we are away just to see how well they react under pressure.

Stay safe and survive :D

Are you saying you can live of the land for a week without bringing any food at all with you? If so can you tell me what you eat and what equipment you take with you? Beer

We take very little food with us only what we can carry on our backs aswell as all our gear. We have had luck with squirrel rabbit pigeon and fish we also forage for greens but I only do that as I don't want the kids getting into bother however most plants are ok nettles are nice just wilted over the fire.
As stated I do keep food in the car but that's some distanced away so we can't just nip over and get stuff lol
I take my full Bergen with my own hammock sleeping bag para cord 2 tarps axe knife folding saw
Msr alpine deluxe cook set (it's absolutely brilliant) Solar shower folding sink wash kit pretty much everything we need to live comfortably I will post pics when I have time my boys carry all there own personal gear like sleeping bag wash kit mess tins etc

Water is never an issue due to location so again it's one less thing to carry.
I wouldn't usually carry rice and things that require the use of valuable water but due to the good supply of fresh water I do in this location again we split the food into individual bags to limit weight and so everyone knows what they have.

Another little thing I find handy are SPLASH water flavouring. It's the rough size of a tictac tin and flavours 15 ltr of water I always have them on me they are full of vitamins and energy to keep you going I get them from tesco for around £1.50 but I'm sure you will find them in other stores aswell

Hope this helps

Msr alpine deluxe cook set
Saw these the other day browsing online, look well tidy! Add in the MSR kitchen utensils and stuff and you've got everything you need for good cooking on the ground.

However

I'm also very swayed by the Trianga 25
Entirely certain that nothing is certain
