Hello from the highlands!

Post by MizerD »

It's about time I registered!

I have been visiting these forums for about a month now, and despite it bugging the crap out of me not being able to contribute I've only just found time to get round to it. I'm fairly new to "prepping" as such, I came by a few sites and I'm sure infamous here, TV shows involving Preppers before Christmas. I hadn't even heard the term before and couldn't help thinking I fall under this category.

I'm a prepper that carry's most of his kit in his head (even though I get called Inspector Gadget for all the fancy gizmos in my possession). I've had more than enough SHTF secnarios in recent years that I'd like to avoid again if i can, From being one of many stranded in Gatwick a few years back in all the snow with nothing but my wallet and phone, to a written off a motorbike thanks to a Ninja sheep in the sticks 9 miles away from the closest house with a smashed iPhone and a long walk ahead of me.

When I have time I like to trek or kayak into the hills and practice my skills, from trapping & fishing, to making fire and shelter. Love primitive skills, and hope to find some experts here to pick your brains :)

Now for the bombshell... I don't have a Go-Bag! I know I know.. Shameful. SO.. tips for a Go-bag suited for the Scottish Highlands are welcome :)

Thanks,
Mizer

P.s All help, advice and support is appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

My first prepping efforts were through the form of my EDC. (every day carry) I, like you ended up in a situation where i was stranded for some time with nothing on me that would of be some use, So when putting some thought into i thought of the things i could of kept in my bag that would be handy right now, from Change to use a payphone, to a chocolate bar from when my sugar levels were low, to a FAK , a spare pair of socks and a leatherman. Though everyone on here all have a similar aim, we are all different. Be good to hear about your experiences and skills
