help needed with a flue

Post by 23pioneer »

You might get water leaks without flashing. Myself I'd keep as much pipe inside (angle it) to give off heat. You need a 'top hat' on it as well; rain water corrodes well in the acidic conditions inside the fire (they all have mild steel fittings).
Seen somewhere a pipe wrapped around the flue to heat water..

went off half cocked there - I'd put it through the wall, even if it's 2ft thick consisting of stones and soil, it'll be easier than making it watertight through the slates.

you can run it straight up and fit a rubber flashing.

The flue can get very hot, ensure the area were the flue goes through the roof structure is well fire proofed.
