Hi, I'm macca from Derbyshire, always been interested in wild camping and survival and could see clouds on the horizon in the mid 2000's so in 2007 I found myself living in Malawi, East Africa to see how I could cope living 'off grid'.
The living side of it wasn't too hard but the lack of entertainment, culture and constant niggling illnesses did for me so I came home after a year.

I'm settled now in mid Derbyshire and my prepping is based upon what I see as a slow burning eroding of living standards which will eventually take us back to lifestyles similar to those lived sometime before the industrial revolution. Even though I cant see it happening next week, next month or anytime soon, its coming and I want myself and my children to be prepared.

My prepping mainly consists of learning how to grow my food here (my grandfather, and his father etc, was a market gardener until the lure of steady wages in a foundary pulled him away post WW1) and honing my fishing skills although I have also been prepping for a loss of basic utilities (storing wood for my burner, tinned food, water harvesting) as I can see some form of electricity/gas cuts aren't a million miles away.

I also enjoy going off walking for a couple of days with a tent but haven't had much time to do that recently with the kids but will be doing it again ASAP.

Have been really enjoying learning from the experienced folks on the site and hope to be able to input if I can add to anything
