Hello, aspiring to preparedness

Post by 37fiddy »

Hi,

Thought I would give a quick intro, never thought to look for prepping forums before, usually get info and stuff from youtube which has a superb and thriving bushcraft/wildcamp/prepping community but somehow came across this forum and signed up :D

I don't really have many preps if any at the moment (outside of gear) but I think it's something I have been brought up with, albeit not called prepping when I was growing up, my grandparents would buy in bulk if they came across mega deals etc so I think that was basically prepping, they always had a well stocked pantry and shed etc of multiples of the same item lol I bought a dehydrater and vac sealer a while ago but haven't really used it in anger yet but did manage to grab 200 tins of tuna for 25p each about 3 years ago (have about 60 left but am working through them) and am partial to the 34p tins of sardines from tescos, but at present that's essentially the extent of food preps

Anyway, I am interested (note interested, not actively partaking in as of yet for personal reasons) in wild camping, bushcrafting and prepping and after gear, would like to develop food preps and then develop a bug out plan which is sorely lacking at the minute... I don't have a bolthole, so my intention away from home is to hit the hills.

I am not prepping for any specific occurrence, I am taking a more general view that whatever happens and impacts upon your ability to live, will require the same equipment and skills to get through it pretty much regardless.

Welcome, fiddy, you'll find lots of debate on here about bugging out - be interesting to see what you think.

Hi Mate,

I had a look around all last night and am pretty excited to be here, youtube is fantastic, but a forum format is always superb for exchanging ideas.

Thanks mate and am currently in the process of filling a BOB ...once the actual bag arrives lol

Welcome.

Try and take it one step at a time. There aint no level of perfect preparations, so just do what you can
