the pound emergency shelter!

Post by Sirmattyb »

Afternoon fellow preppers while wondering around the shit hole that is Bracknell on my lunch break eyeing up pregnant teenagers I checked out my local poundland always good for a few prepping bargains in my view and found this little beauty! A one sterling pound emergency shelter complete with approx 20ft of string. Probably not up to much but I brought a couple anyway. Will pitch one in the garden and leave it for a couple of days see how it fares stick the other in the old BOB. seems to be made of the same material as the cheap space blankets.......

On another note 200 grams of trail mix with 25gms providing 110 calories, 10 grams sugar, 5.8 grams of fat and 1.2 grams protein for a princely pound. quarter a kilo of dried apricots and half a kilo of dates for a pound each as well (ii am experimenting adding both dates, cherries and apricots to Pemmican.......

Cheers Guys
Matt

yep, got a couple of those emergency shelters in my bug out bag, probably stand up to limited use but as I only intend to use them until we reach our BOL that wont really matter.

I have some of them too, in fact I am in the process of making a big thermal blanket out of one of them sewn between two pieces of black cotton material, I've done the main bit and it would already be functional, but I want to put some edging on it, my original 70s bought space blanket was a much stronger affair than these temporary ones and this is my DIY stronger version.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

When I'm driving along with only my daughter in the car and we see someone (usually a guy) either walking or running with a back-pack, we now instantly assume they're a prepper and then try to guess what's in their bag :). We've never seen anyone we know, but if we did I would just have to find out if they are. I guess questions like, "Do you have an emergency blanket in your back-pack?" are just too direct :). I'll have to come up with a strategy.

i have a couple of those , better than nothing if you ask me .
wouldn`t want to spend to long in it but if you put two together one on the inside it should be bearable for a bit longer .
YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .

Our TV is full of how to survive USA style, and you have so many more nasties than us that it'll only put us off coming over there ;) space is the biggest advantage most other places have over the UK.

The demonstrated way to attach a tarp to para cord was very useful. It was more to the bottom of the FB page. The Netherlands make the UK appear expansive by comparison. They do not have the advantage of being an island.

You seem to have more "nasties" as you call them than you realize. I suggest you visit http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-25002927 to understand the "nasties" are part of the UK and in numbers not accurately reported by charming and lying UK authorities.

These Nasties in the link is refers to human ones, I know I wasn't clear but I was refering to the natural ones, animal, weather, and earthquake/volcano, we have one poisonous snake which avoids humans like politicians avoid truth, no big predators, our weather though we have had more than our fair share of sh1te the last few years, is not as extreme, again shortening things I'd say you have it worse across the board, and yet it's also a bigger board where many of the dangers I mention are specific to some parts and not others, Britain and America through media often get one another's laws and justice systems muddled on an individual basis, I like the USA and would have considered moving there if things had turned out differently in life (Colorado would be nice) but I digress  The media everywhere even the BBC seems to have an agenda all of it's own, and the Police, no every organisation these days tends to present statistics which show themselves in the most favourable light, we do have crime, yes some pretty nasty crime, yet on the whole not as extreme as yours :P

I did have a look at the Facebook link and I do like it BTW it's a bit like my SAS survival guide with added guns, the first thing of note is the high capacity AR mag on the top of the page, legal in the UK BTW, but we can only have straight pull versions of the gun, funny old world isn't it.
