Water BOB alternative

Post by Cougar »

Don't know what the quality is like but this looks to be a bargain price if you want to store water in a sealed container in the bath e.g. temporary water outage.

A couple of days' ago, with the family all on holiday, I pottered around the house doing a bit of this and a bit of that in my PJs. No rushing out to do the school run at the crack of dawn :). After doing a few loads of laundry, some ironing, hoovering, tidying, etc - you get the picture - I headed in for a shower, turned the taps on and very brown water came out. Not knowing why the water was brown, I left the taps running (no water meters here, thank goodness, especially when showers in our house range from 5 minutes to 35!) and 'phoned the Council to find out what was going on. They'd shut the water off earlier in the morning, but all was well now. The discolouration was just what had been stirred up in the pipes (I didn't really want to know that this stuff was in our pipes all the time :() and was perfectly safe to drink! Well, I passed on drinking it, but after a while the water started to run almost clear and I braved a shower. Given this wee blip in my day and the poor souls who lost electrical power over a whole swathe of the north of Scotland, I feel more secure than ever that we should be as prepared as possible for events such as these. Preparing to up my bottled water stash, for times when they shut the water off without warning or it's sludge coming out of the taps :).

The linked items will hold 50L of water. Not bad.

A bag called a Water BOB (http://www.waterbob.com/Welcome.do;jses ... 1CA31B7CC4) will hold 100 gallon of water in a "standard" bathtub. $19 US Dollars plus shipping.

For the UK - I have no idea how big your tubs are there / tax import duty issues. Might be worth a look to see of a UK supplier has the item.
