Haven't done this for a while(used a map and compass that is) and was wondering if anybody knew of any books/manuals they would recommend to help dust off the cobwebs.

Simon King ( the nature chap) does a decent refresher on YouTube.
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.

I found Navigation for Walkers by Julian Tippet a great help when refreshing my own map and compass skills.

whats wrong with taking out your boots, the map, a sarnie and walking routes you know, but stopping to pinpoint yourself on the map given the info available ?
