Re: blood pressure monitor

Apologies being late to the party (as usual), but there are wild variations with home electronic ones. Don't get me wrong, they can be good, but a cuff, stethoscope, and a quick read up on how to do it is likely to be your best bet. As another said though, if you're not too keen on that, Omron make ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

Well after being away from this site for a very long time, my first prep was to come back :D Aside from that, I was thinking about clearing out the car later on, and adding/replacing as necessary. There's a definite lack of cubbyholes in my vehicle, so I might get a few of those seat organiser thing...

Re: To quickclot or not?

What Yorkshire Andy said  Haemostatic gauze is great if direct pressure alone won't work (which is rare - it's amazing how bad a bleed direct pressure will sort), but QuikClot is an absolute nightmare; it'll stop the bleed, but it's hell for the A&E staff to remove. Even if it were a TEOTWA...

Re: If you had to start all over again...

It'll definitely be a whole different kettle of fish prepping over there. As far as the non-B.O.B preps are concerned the order of things will be much the same - extra food each week, something to store water then move onto the pricier things if/when I can afford them and in whatever order that migh...

Re: If you had to start all over again...

The BOB I've sold was more of a major catastrophe type bag. In the event of something more mundane (and likely), I have a different bag, and that's getting re-homed but not sold. But that wasn't my point, I'm just asking if you'd do anything different. Also, consider it a compliment that as soon as ...

If you had to start all over again...

Well, I've just sold my bug out bag. I feel like crying! It was necessary, because I'm moving to the US to be with my fiancée in a few months, but it got me thinking - because I'll have to start all over again when I move - if you had to start all your preps again, would you do it any differen...

Re: The age old question

I love this topic! Both my ex-partner and my OH are aware of my prepping. My OH is American and so is already more open to the idea than many! Previously I had been partially greeted with this look:  I tended to find that she got too hung up on the reason why I prepped, rather than seein...

Re: Most likely SHTF situations?

I'm in agreement with lots of folk here; honestly, I can't see a truly major disaster of any kind hitting in my lifetime, but that's not to say it won't happen. Personally I prep for economic instability (or even total collapse - it has to happen at some point) or nationwide power outages for any re...

Re: Under £5 hobo cooker kit

I've got that exact same drainer, and given that it no longer spends its time draining utensils, you have just saved it from a swift exit from the house. I'll be giving this a go! Gread idea; thank you! :D
