Re: Living of the land
Problem with woodland is that although it might supply a ready contingent of squirrels for the pot, plus the odd two-feathered treat, the shade produced by the tree canopy really limits what may be found during the middle of the year (assuming deciduous trees here). Although mixed woodland with oak ...

Re: Nettles for a Survival food
What about those non-stinging nettles? We used to call them White Dead Nettles (cos they didnt sting and had white things on them which gave a sweet taste in your mouth if you sucked air through them...) How do they fare? I ask mostly because, well, they dont sting! :) White Dead Nettles are fair g...

Re: Mini farms///Mini LIVESTOCK
I have been partially involved with bugs as human food for the last few years, and I think it is something that future generations will have to countenance as part of their everyday nutritional intake once the developing world decides that its own land is for the use of its indigenous peoples rather...

Nettles for a Survival food
Farewell to Nettles? Not Likely... I came to this site by chance in the Autumn last year (2013), wondering precisely what the 'prepping' ethos was. To be perfectly honest sitting on piles of supplies is not my kind of thing, and I would prefer to be more flexible in my response to any emergency/disa...

Re: Out of Date MREs
I've seen ... not so much the US MRE packs but the UK... ratpacks for sale on eBay. But I wonder how that is legit since, as far as I understand from my interfacing with Forces, that all unused ratpacks have to be returned, and the Stores guys are not allowed to sell them off. The TA, I understand, ...

Re: 5 POUND PREPS///Hmmm
What says that you're going to have time to enjoy your pre-bought disaster goodies? You might have to evacuate before you have a chance to pick up the cans/bags etc. Not suggesting that there is, by any means, anything wrong in stocking up on a few resources. But wouldn't it be a good idea to have a...

Re: Finding protein without a weapon
Depending how malevolent the people knocking on your cave front door are, then that cosy warm shelter might become your personal trap - if there isn't a rear/another escape route out of it. Besides the world's full of caves near the coast - those brick and mortar holiday homes. :) As for non-weaponi...

Re: edible and medicinal plants. edmund launert
That's a book that I don't rate - for the high price often quoted. IMHO, you are better off looking for another of the plant ID-photo books by the same publisher and annotating the text entries with any useful herbal data.
