Re: locking knives petition

Hello,

I would love to sign this but I am not prepared to put my name to something this controversial in a public way.

I know this is pretty low of me. But we live in a frustrating world where common sense counts for naught.

Goodluck

Re: Troy oz silver coins

Hello All, I currently have 105 silver maple leafs. From the Canadian royal mint. The difference between silver rounds (buffalos etc) and bars, with coins is that coins are minted by a national mint - a country. So they are viewed as more reliable (w.g. less like to be fake or under weight etc). The...

Re: Silver content of British Silver Coins

Hello

The percentage is the silver quality, e.g. 92.5% or .925 (over 1,000)

as the coin is about 2.8 grams, multiplied by 0.925 that makes 2.59 grams of pure silver.

As 31.1 grams (of anything) is a troy ounce, 2.59 / 31.1 = 0.08328 troy ounces, not 0.8

Re: Silver content of British Silver Coins

Hello, I have been checking this out. Above it states that a pre 1920 silver sixpence contains 0.841 of a troy ounce of silver That would make it a total weight of: 0.841 X (1,000 / 925) = 0.909 troy ounces or 28.27 grams In fact the silver sixpences were 2.8275888 grams when minted new. Be careful

Gardening Tools

Hello all, I have been thinking a lot about prepping and the inevitable long term conclusion is self sufficiency etc. To this end, growing your own is the logic end point. Being a fairly gear orientated individual, I have a search about, and I found this article by Monty Don: http://www.telegraph.co...

Re: Medical School

Hi guys, Thank you all for your best wishes. About the Littmann, there are lots that they offer, nurses, advanced, basic, lightweight, select cardio, which one to get? Some of them really seem to spell pout what they don't do, so how do I choose? I hope they say once I'm there! Trouble is I am utter...

Re: Medical School

Hello All, A bit of an update. I will be starting medicine next month in London. I am extremely excited and very nervous too! It will probably be a while before I can update the forum, and even longer before I can offer any kind of useful reflections on what I am learning, but I will always be a pre...

Re: Troy oz silver coins

Hello All, Something to consider is this. If buying for price alone, silver bars are closer to the spot price (cheaper) than silver coins, but are susceptible to VAT, whereas until recently coins were not. This difference between prices to the spot may have shrunk or disappeared after the VAT rule c...

Anti-Biotics

I have seen a very very Panorama about the increasingly ineffective performance of anti-biotics.

See in this link.
