Re: Hi, New member here

Hi and welcome! I'm quite new myself but have similarish ideas although I'd only be planning on going as far as the Lake District. I'd also be thinking about going on foot as something as simple as the electric being out would cause the roads to be gridlock. The site's good but I'm finding that havi...

Re: RADIO COMMUNICATIONS 2

I'm looking into doing my foundation license with my local club. Quite excited! Got my new Baofeng UV5R waiting for me at the post office and that'll be me ready to go hopefully.

Re: Licensed Radio Network

Some of the things in this post seem to have gone over my head, although I do understand radio waves from school science (one of the few subjects that interested me!). I just want you guys to bear in mind that most Preppers get into radio because of prepping, and so are not radio enthusiasts at hear...

Re: Why we prep?

I think with such diverse issues in the world it'd be foolish to prepare for a single unlikely event... Take Doomsday Preppers: "I'm prepping for the eruption of the Yellowstone volcano!!". The chances are so remote... However, mix those remote chances with countless other potential scenar...

Re: Hi! Prepper from Littleborough here.

Thanks for your comments guys. That's really useful info about the foundation license, thanks a lot. If anyone's within walking distance of Littleborough- say 30 mile radius, or a distance I'd be able to communicate over radio with, then please 'friend' me as you never know. We might be able to shar...

Re: HI from near Wigan

Hi!

I'm from Littleborough near Rochdale. Do you use radio? I'm trying to set up a comms network we can use to share advice/be eyes on the ground if the SHTF and other comms were down.

Re: Hi from Rochdale

Hi Sandy, I'm quite local to you, I'm from Littleborough. Just buy things nice and gradually off eBay when it's cheapest. It's good advice to start with a survival handbook. Learn how to clean water, learn the importance of shelter etc. then figure out what you're prepping for. Surviving in your hom...

Hi! Prepper from Littleborough here.

Hi, I'm new to the site but not new to prepping. I've been prepping in one way or another for years but a couple of years ago I started to up the ante and bought various survival gear and began to learn survival skills. Until recently, I always thought of prepping as quite a personal thing so that I...
