Re: First response kit
Cheers dark horse. TP a must but lighter/ matches I have. "Chewing gum" ??? No point The rest not for me. Inch items are worth more it's a general bag and General covers as much as possible. A tent is a waste as a one man bivi, when I already have one. And kit stays with you in your sleep ...

Re: No power!
Very nice FC. I've never been much of a carpenter but I love hand tools.
It's always going to be a highly valued skill to repair.
I have the same fears about comma. Just hoping someone had a fantastic new idea

Re: what should be considered in bug out placement choice
I'm not trying to be harsh I've met so many "preppers" that have "things in place" in an emergency, when in my opinion what they actually have is common sense and a plan in place for a bad situation. An emergency is much worse. It is not me being dismissive I understand that emer...

Misses the point I think. I mean no electrical power as in back to basics - the important skills that everyone seems to have lost

Re: what should be considered in bug out placement choice
IMHO anyone that doesn't consider bugging out is far from prepared. The ability to live wild is completely lost for many and it's not generational its down to your ability to survive without your phone and technology. If my family have to do it then we will, they won't be happy but I will be smiling...

No power!
Has anyone on here gone for a completely zero reliance approach - no electricity necessary.
If so how do you solve the communications issue if any?
I'm building to it but still have to keep up with the modern world.
Any tips on full self reliance.

Faraday cage
Since an emp can be caused by any number of factors and since majority of us plan to use our cars to bug out, or use home generators who is storing kit in faraday cages? I have my spare car parts in one but have yet to test it. My generator is pull start so no risk there of it not starting. Just a t...

Re: Medical scenario 1
Coming from someone with a lot of experience with this, tourniquets are amazing and in the event of a cat bleed I would certainly use one for as long as necessary. Using one doesn't mean losing yor limb, it all depends on the time till care. It's a case of lesser evils. I would rather be incapacitat...

Re: Sutures
As a possibility run a culture test in them for a few weeks and see what grows. If they don't grow anything too dangerous try a litmus test to test for hazardous material If they are all clean sonic bath them and use them. So long as packages area sealed with heat then they should remain sterile. So...

Re: Prep to fight
You make an excellent point plymtom it's not all about the meds but it was just an example. I wanted some input in people idea. Having spent many years serving I know information is only useful if you trust the source. My eyes are pretty trustworthy so going out if only for a few hours isn't irrespo...
