Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

I have made a start on my sash stops (taking a bit longer than I expected to fit). I need to next look into window protection film, might buy a small amount to test to see how easy it is to fit (don't want it looking like a dogs dinner with air bubbles). I have changed my outside lanterns to TAPO bu...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

This coming week I'll be fitting downstairs some sash stops for the windows. It's single glazed so still not very secure but should make things a little harder (touch wood never is required)

I also have my decoy safe to fit

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

More of a safety prep weekend for me, fitted fire alarms in the children's bedrooms (already have nest ones in hallways). Very important between a 4 year old been curious with a lighter they've found, or a 15 year old with ruddy hair straighteners left powered on left on the bed by whilst they raid...

Also this week i am looking into cash storage of cash and valuables.

I'm getting a cheap safe off amazon as a decoy and then a second more secure safe for the actual items we want secure. Haven't yet dipped into gold/silver storage or carrying much cash but I plan on.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

I've focused on medical preps this week, increased the number of the usual tablets but also invested in a pulse oximeter, rehydration salts, more bandages, steri strips etc. I should now have enough to cover most basic eventualities.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

So far this week I have: - Increased my number of solar backup lanterns - Installed my ecoflow power generator - Fixed some leaking gutters - Put up some additional plastic shelving in the cellar for future preps - Trialing different methods for tin can storage (Vaccum sealed bags, plastic tubs with...

Cellar storage

Anybody have any experience on storing tinned food in a cellar?

Wondering about if I'll need air right containers to put the tins in. My worry is rust on the tins but before I go to a load of expense wondering if anybody has prior experience to share?

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12

Had a power outage for 2-3 hours the other night so focused my mind on the immediate. I have just ordered a refurbished ecoflow delta & solar, will use for freezer backup or entertainment for short term issues. I also must really sort out my main solar backup socket for power cuts which are redu...

Re: Jenny Makes Bread!

Looks great, well done! Has anyone used a bread maker before? I quite fancy getting one, yeah it’s cheating as I should learn to make bread the Jenny way but it’s more for convenience than anything else. I love my soup maker and use it a lot this time of year alongside my slow cooker, they are the ...
