Re: Radios and walkie talkies
Okay. From what I understand from the internet that is a handheld ham radio will transmit and receive from a radius of about five miles. So in order to communicate with home, say I was sixty or seventy miles away how would that occur? Could I make the signal so strong at home to reach seventy miles ...

Re: Disneyland Paris kit list
Thanks guys, some kore great responses. The suggestion of making the kids wear ID got me thinking, I am going to use one of those temporary transfer tattoos to put it on their arms. That way it cannot be removed easily. I think they need a good few scrubs. The photo each morning is a top idea. I wil...

Re: Helikon Tex FAK, FAK and supplies recommendations required
To an extend yes. Some trauma first aid training in relation to a previous role in the police. I have had refreshers on general and emergency first aid. Also trained in CPR and AED stuff. But nothing major. My own research from videos and books but I dont know what that counts for.

Re: Radios and walkie talkies
Thank you for that decent reply. I am looking for the best option for when I am at work, up to seventy miles from home to communicate with my wife at home. The mobile radio would need to be as small and light as possible for a backpack but the base station could be anything. So CB radio does not req...

Helikon Tex FAK, FAK and supplies recommendations required
I'm considering one of the Helikln Tex FAKs. Does anybody here have one? Are they worth the money? I would consider another type/brand if anyone can recommend something similar. I want a FAK to sit in the bottom of my 30 litre rucksack. So probably around 25cm x 18cm max. I like the canvas type with...

Radios and walkie talkies
Can anybody here tell me a but about licenced radio use. Do you need to be a licence holder to purchase one of these high powered walkie talkies? I understand you need to have a licence to operate them just in a SHTF WWOROL situation and one chose to operate it illegally, would that be possible. So ...

Disneyland Paris kit list
Hi, I'm going to Disneyland Paris with the family in December and I would like to know of people's experience of the park in terms of safety, security etc. And I am going to start preparing a bag and contents for the time spent in the park and also things to be left at the hotel. We are travelling b...

Re: Suggestions
Hi all, it may have been asked before, apologies. Can anyone give me literature suggestions for UK based prepping/eotwawki novels please. I would rather more realistic story lines- not zombie/aliens etc. My imagination may stretch to EMP though. Pretty sure this fellah is full of stories of assorte...
