Re: Home Solar System

I’ve found a smear or copperslip grease on high current connectors (ie vehicle engine earth straps) improves
connection and prevents corrosion, and could be beneficial but I haven’t tried it on our solar rig.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

I'm wondering if coffee will go up - what do we think on that? I'm sure it's going to go up - it has to come to us from overseas, which uses fuel for the ships - anything and everything is going to go up, I have about 1.4 kilos of freeze dried instant stocked up and more coming next week. Eggs are ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

Last Autumn I thought I’m getting too old to lug buckets of coal, clean out the ash every morning, and mop the hearth, so have not used the multi fuel stove this winter. So I set the central heating at 21C, 24/7, more as an experiment. Now it’s warmer the CH has cut out completely and Gas just heats...

Re: Home Solar System

After a lot of mulling, I think I am not going to go down the balcony solar route, and stick with the existing shed as a stand alone solution. It means that I can't feed into my mains, but that was never really the intention. If I wanted to do that, I will go full solar on roof install. Looking at ...

Frnc, a landline and any CHEAP pug in phone, not cordless, will work for a couple of days ( on BT’s batteries), when mobiles die if power is cut to cell towers (blackout or deliberate) or the government can just tell the company to shut them down as in the 7/7 London terror attack. itsybitsy, same h...

Re: Attention Sparkies: Leisure battery issue

I had a vehicle parked long term using a charger/maintainer, the battery did not overheat but was still cooked/fkd. I replaced the charger/maintainer with a modern CTEK MXS 5.0 (the dogs do-dars), not on permanent I use a timer just for a few hours (4 or 5) . With Camper vans with a built in charger...

Re: Home Solar System

Have just read the efixx article, we have a small 240w system feeding 2 leisure batteries, we’re keeping the system at 12v to recharge AA/AAA and USB’s, no regs or insurance company to worry about, keep it simple. I would keep a balcony system simple, definitely would not plug in to the mains, leisu...

Over the weekend filled every vehicle and fuel can with fuel, oil prices are expected to exceed $100 a barrel,
pump prices could reach the levels of 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine.
