Re: Krank/batteries DAB/FM radio
I agree that DAB can be power-hungry, and FM remains the most reliable communication method in emergencies. Great advice on the 18650 cells—they really do offer high capacity and better efficiency than AAs. It’s crucial to use quality chargers and batteries from trusted sources since cheap fakes can...

Re: Power banks
A power bank is one of the most underrated tools in survival. It’s not just for charging your phone—it can power your flashlight, GPS, watch, or even a plasma lighter. In an emergency, having access to energy can be critical—whether it’s calling for help or simply keeping a light on at night. It’s w...
Re: Batteries
Batteries are always a gamble—you never know when they’ll die, especially in the cold or with heavy use. That’s why I’m leaning more toward power banks and gear that can be charged via USB. One solid power bank gives you backup power for a flashlight, phone, GPS, even a mini headlamp. If you’ve got ...

Re: EDC for a potential high threat situation.
For me, EDC is more than just “stuff I might need” — it’s gear that can really help when things go wrong. I always carry the basics: a Leatherman Wave Plus, flashlight, small first aid kit, and a lighter. Doesn’t take up much space but gives peace of mind, whether I’m in the city or out in the woods.
Re: My EDC
EDC is all about tweaking and testing, so it’s great you’re optimizing your pack. Moving the medical gear into a separate waterproof pouch is a smart move—easier access and better protection. I’m also constantly adjusting how to make the most of space in my bag.

Re: Indoor camping stove?
Great you’re thinking about resilience alongside decarbonisation! For situations like power cuts, a small portable fuel generator (gasoline or LPG) can provide energy for essentials without draining your batteries. Also consider gas canisters for cooking that don’t rely on electricity. Having backup...

I get your need—a reliable, small button compass for your survival tin. Look for models from trusted brands with quality magnetic materials and solid build. Choose one with good long-term storage reviews. Smartphones are great, but a classic compass offers dependable backup, especially in emergencies.

Re: Power banks for Dummies
For short off-grid trips, a high-capacity portable power bank or a small petrol generator works well. Since you can charge from mains or a car, a power bank with AC output can run a hairdryer briefly. Solar setups are great but need more investment and space.
