Hi Mr Briggs sir,
the 'set frequencies in memory' do they hold after battery fail/reload ? That was my concern with early memory mapped devices.....

Re: Getting started in radio communications
As someone totally naive to radio but eager to include some form of radio communications in my bob/wildcamping kit how does this:

compare to this:

Not even sure why I want one (ties in with the naivety surrounding radio) but I know that I want one

Re: Getting started in radio communications
I have just bought one of these and am quite impressed. Will buy another one as it will provide a good communications backup with home if the phone networks ever collapse.
Re: Getting started in radio communications
Hi,
Is there any way of charging these on the go? I saw mention of building a converter, but will they charge off a 12v inverter? If so what wattage would they need?
Thinking of how to keep them powered up if i am on the road for more than a day.
Thanks
Andy

Just got myself one of these.
Really does seem like a "does it all" bit of kit, and with it receiving radio broadcasts its a no brainer

Sorry for not weighing in on this thread for a while.
During my absence I did manage to publish the online learning module for basic two way radio operation, if anyone is still interested please do let me know.
