Thanks for that. I'd been wondering what to do for bog roll.lonewolf wrote:so are dock leaves.

We already have a far more leisurely pace of life. Mostly due to where we live and our attitudes. But electricity is useful, so why not if it's possible?

because with the probable death rate during and post SHTF we wont have the personnel, expertise, time or inclination.

If it's possible, it's a good thing to have. Kinda think I keep saying that possible bit, but it's been an extraordinarily long day, and I'm long overdue for a very hot soak in the bath, so I could be wrong!lonewolf wrote:because with the probable death rate during and post SHTF we wont have the personnel, expertise, time or inclination.
PS. If for nothing other than moral, it's a good thing. People always feel better when hot water can be on tap, and they can flip a switch and have lights. People feeling better and more confident is a very good morale booster.
Re: How to rebuild our world from scratch
I tend to agree if we have the ability to generate even at a greatly reduced rate it would be worth pursuing. Lone wolf may be correct that a die off may rob us of those able to build and generate , it might even rob us of those who know how to smelt ores and make iron and we could be plunged even further back. Probably won't happen though.redskies wrote:We already have a far more leisurely pace of life. Mostly due to where we live and our attitudes. But electricity is useful, so why not if it's possible?

Re: How to rebuild our world from scratch
It might take those that know how, but the information is in libraries all over the place, so if one survives, it could very well happen that someone, somewhere would go look it up. They'd have to, even for such simple things as spades and hoes.
I honestly don't see the harm in generation if it's possible. It really does raise morale when people can feel safe and warm and even clean, it's a huge boost. And I really would be quite happy to teach everyone in our community what I know about it, and OH would do the same, I know. That way, you don't have cliques and groups and find yourself in a position that's potentially dangerous because of what you know.

Re: How to rebuild our world from scratch
I am planning for a time without power so that I can live without electricity if I have to and still manage what I have to do to survive and thrive. I'm using that as the base line/MINIMUM threshold if you like, if it is possible somehow to be able to generate some form of electricity say wind or water power then I will incorporate that(if I can),but I need to have a base line I can work from and assuming electrical power will be available is not something I want to do, I need a reference point I know I can work from. this is why I am purchasing a stock of HAND tools rather than power tools.
