Apologies - offence unintended
I have two knives and they're both a lot smaller than most of yours!

No bother - no offence taken. Most people are very unfamiliar with pagan customs and tools, so I can see where the confusion over athame use would come from. It's not a problem :)

I wonder if Religious Purposes counts as 'good reason' for folks like us to carry a pointed bladed object...... It works for Sikhs (although theirs is a token weapon and an Athame is not).

Mind you, I'll admit I'm not Wiccan (I'm a different sort of Pagan)

If you want to be picky about it, I'm not wiccan either - strictly speaking, I'm an ecclectic solitary/hedege/edge!

And I don't see why it shouldn't apply to us, given the rules about an athame being used to draw blood.

As I said, mine is right at the very bottom of my backpack, so it's not what you'd call easy to get to. My leatherman, in a side pocket, is much easier!

OFF TOPIC but we've already gone down this path so:

Druid, Merlin Michael Williams was arrested for going shopping with a sword strapped to his back, he later got the sword back and permission to carry it.

There are many old customs regards to weapons and a couple of sections in the Havamal if memory serves me correct.
If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.

Damit I wrote Pagan on mine, yet Jedi is the closest to religion I'll ever get, only without much of the TK Image
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

I don't see why not, they're not proscribed weapons like gravity-knives or weapons made to look like something else

I've opted for leatherman charge. On my belt pretty much every day.
I carry a jack pyke skinning knife in my car bag.
It's small enough and fit for purpose.
