The windmills do work you just need loads of them, I made homemade ones out of washing up liquid bottles you place them in the mole runs on the grass you need to place them roughly two to three feet apart( it was some time ago that I used them so can't quite remember the gap I used). The moles move to the flower beds and I moved the windmills to the edge of the lawn to keep them off of it I still had an occasional hill but I just popped a windmill in to it and they soon moved back to the flowerbeds again.

Pour Jeyes Fluid down the hole - they don't like the smell.
Or put the end of the hose pipe down the hole and switch the water on. Floods the tunnels so they he'd elsewhere.

Creosote and jeyes fluid may very well work but I don't like using weed killer if I can help it let alone pouring all sorts of dangerous chemicals into the soil so I'd personally stick with the mechanical methods. A customer of mine had moles on her lawn and we just flattened the hills , picked up the stones and mowed every week and they seem to have got the message and left.

Not humane but nearly natural - get a Cat with hunting instincts like my daughter's bundle of joy. It brings in every rodent, mammal and birds it can get its claws on. Through the Cat flap and rather prolific.

I do not think Moles are particularly tasty though as he does just play with them until they give up.

We used to get quite a few mole hills across the garden but since this cat joined the family none.

I'd be betting on the ultrasonic / sound weapon type mole scarers and things for that one

We had one in the polytunnel. Hopeless, or we had it in the wrong place!

Sitting on a stool with a shotgun appears to be the simplist answer!

Also, there are still mole catchers around if you have the finances
