Just a comment on shelf life, I use a gas powered nail gun at work, I was given some expired gas cylinders for it so tried them - they are 2 years passed their use by date and they are no good, they still have pressure but don't fire the gun. I can't think why unless there is more in them than just gas.unsure wrote:as far as i can see , theres no shelf life on gas , so long as it stays free from rust on the can then its safe to store . one can is good for a few quick meals , like soups or canned stews , some thing you need to warm up not so much cook from raw . how many twigs or cones would you need to collect to do the same job . i know free fuel is all ways better and a limitless supply .

I do like the little camping gaz Bistro 300 too, but storing the gas canister worried me though they looked easy to put in and turn on from the video, without needing matches or anything.
I looked at the Hexi whatsits... just googling photo's of them I noticed there was a warning that they needed to be used in a well ventilated place...so I'm not sure about them they just look like BBQ Bricks.
That water thing I didn't relaise it was only single use with specific sachets of food. ..Again there was a warning about chemicals on the link given.
or residential properties, you can use up to 15kg of Butane (2 blue 7.5kg gas bottles) indoors, for example in portable gas heaters. You can also store a further maximum of 15kg indoors.
Our red Propane gas bottles can be used indoors in commercial and industrial premises on a temporary basis, for example when you’re using a blowtorch or air heater but the gas bottles must be stored outdoors.
In the case of fixed installations, Propane gas bottles must be sited outside, whilst Calor stockists and commercial and industrial premises should store LPG in accordance with the UKLPG Code of Practice No. 7 "Storage of Full and Empty LPG Cylinders and Cartridges".
