if you have a open fire i would look into a big water spray or afff foam for that room for rapid (but clean ish knock down) (also the 35kva rated ones are safe if accidently used on live electrical stuff)

after a small fire the contents can be wiped up with a cloth.....
with dry powder imagine your son throwing 6 bags of flour around the room and it been blown about by a big fan....
it gets EVERYWHERE and isnt pleasant to the digestive system
