Hey guys,
Thanks for all the replies and points.. very interesting hearing other peoples views on it...
Great to hear your a interested in history arzosah, me too.. and it gives you an insight like you rightly said to what has happened before this cushy wee 'aldi and asda' lifestyle people live these days....
I like I said have been prepping and storing on a budget for around 4 years now but recently I realized I had a major hole in my prepping plan, and it came about by something a completely obscure event.. Next door to me were having a party, I woke up and heard shouting and fighting and glass's being thrown in the back lane which we share with the neighbour... I looked out the windows, went onto the back garden and could see nothing!!!!! Jesus I thought .. That made me research Night vision technology and after many reviews on utube and reviews of the items i came across this site...

On my budget and a few great reviews I though what the hell ill give it a try, I was very apprehensive as its a toy at the end of the day.. but spent the 35 pounds and got it... it didn’t do the claimed 50 ft range more like 15.. so I then bought a cheap IR torch from china which was 5 pounds and suddenly the range jumped to around 60- 70 metres.. I was shocked! this 'toy' can see in complete darkness with only a fake red led visible.. This shows you that if you do buy cheap and do the research you can find bargains that do exactly what they expensive stuff do and still serve the purpose you intended it to do.. and anything that gives you the edge I think is worth the investment. Hopefully in the near future we will be moving into the countryside out of the city so the night vision will come in very handy indeed.. to see your area without giving up your position
The IR torch uses a 18650 battery and then runs another problem I thought what if economic collapse comes and I cant charge batteries the night vision is useless.. So I came across this site

Never done electronics, never soldered, never used a glue gun, but ordered the stuff which was mostly from china and after waiting for weeks for it all to come it all works! If I can do it first time it shows how easy it was and anyone can do it!!!! my education is in making computer games and graphics so never touched a soldering iron or anything like that... in short.. now I have a solar powered 18650 battery charger.... I recommend it its very easy and it works great... charged, tested and it really do's work!!!!
as for the comparison between America and uk, yes I agree the dynamics are different but if it dos become lawless which is possible then any edge you have I think is worth it and there is alot of very effective forceful defence tool you can buy legal in the uk and own legally as long as you keep them in your house ! AS for the firearms licence I doubt I would ever get one as I have aspergers syndrome... on the event of economic collapse and potential break down of law and order any edge or any thing that improves your chances of stopping yobs and the mob taking what you have stored a sound investment.
take care all and happy prepping
