Hi Sophie at lest you let us know straight away that you wanted to make a film so thanks for that. Due to the number of times that preppers have been shown as being crazy in the media we are slow to trust any one from this area. How ever do not take this personal as we are slow to trust most new comers. So welcome and hope we see you on the forum in the future

All most media types seem to be after is the sensational camera angles filming various rambo style knives and cross bows as "that what prepping is" and it get sensational headlines tagged on the back of knife crime statistics et all.,...

If your after doing a film someone a while back suggested taking A presenter home and going to the utility boxes and turning off gas water and electric..

and saying now all the shops are shut as theres been a big blackout theres traffic chaos as no street lights/ traffic lights are working... the gas and water pumps have shut down ...

what are you going to do..

for 48 hours it will take for the "storm" to die down so the Lines men can repair the power lines...

now try and live.........
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Actually Andy that's a bloody good suggestion not just for a reporter but for anyone who wants to taste a crisis, add to that people on a flood plain do it all without going downstairs, or if you do count everything below a certain level as contaminated or ruined, we are largely of a bug in mentality, so a reporter need only ask "How would I cope?" give it a try make a film of their own results/test then ask around to see if any prepper would like to help with their version, a bit like that chap on TV who goes and lives for a few days with people who have gone off grid away from the masses, it works best when the reporter lives in it.
I have to admit I wouldn't go for it in a million years ( being filmed that is) and that I never have had a test run as such, but I find the idea interesting... the family wouldn't have it though I bet
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Suppose the flooding issue will be close to Sophie's heart even though Cornelius Vermuyden did a good job ;)

Thinking a Gordon Ramsey / bar rescue type person to wade in and show the error of their way perhaps you could get utility people involved/ emergency services as they like to spread the message ;)

For other ideas...

Presenter is out in country side and car gets stranded be it broken down or stuck in the mud... And your forced to spend the night in the car ... A " passer by" can stop. Ask presenter if they have a tow rope.... If not leave them stuck in the mud overnight ;)

Or a city based worker transport network goes belly up be it a terror attack or snow how you getting home are they in suitable shoes... Got warm clothes .....

House fire pump house full of disco smoke at 3 am ... Once fire service turn up "your house is gone"

Who's your insurance company? What's your policy details, your left in your night clothes outside with what ever you have on you... Now what?

Chuck a adhock first aid situation a loved one is cutting dinner and slices a chunk out their arm. How will they deal with it...
