VANGO CHINOOK 200
I'm really impressed with the build quality, ripstop, aluminium poles, considering it had been set up on display for months, its still very solid, just a bit faded.
I wasnt looking for one but as it stands up on its own as i like them and it was only £30, a little beaten up, but its a £200 tent!

Oh and I worked for millets for a long time, ok I love tents, im out at last, how can I help.
I know what you mean, I have about 4 and counting. Although they are all tents they offer something different during your excursions.
Re: Just Tents
That reminds me.
I ended up buying a Snugpak Ionosphere. Hopefully, I will be able to test it in the next few weeks and report back.

KARRIMOR Ultralite 2 Man Tent
http://www.millets.co.uk/activities/104 ... -tent.html
i just spotted this on the millets site, £120 down to £40, but with the "BHSALE" code £36, if you pick up in a local store £37!
I really dont need one but i might have to just because it is so cheap!

Re: Just Tents
I buy cheap tents and I've never been made to regret my decisions yet. Here are my two tents - I've not pitched the Arpenaz yet, but tomorrow I'll video myself doing it and put it on youtube. I'll leave it up for a few days to make sure I'm happy to use it for my trip in a couple of weeks to Shropshire.
The Soloista is a fantastic little thing, just a little too small for all my motorbike kit. Even though I could do it at a push.
£20 for the Soloista and £30 for the Arpenaz btw.

Where are you on Youtube mate, I'll take a look. I've got massively into watching all sorts of stuff on Youtube, both 'zombie' and 'normal', I've been watching an old 70's programme I mind from a kid up until V early this morning, back to zombies now.dangerman wrote:I buy cheap tents and I've never been made to regret my decisions yet. Re: Just Tents
Well i got my army "special forces" 2 hoop bivvy it even has special forces printed on it so in the event of been woken my a pissed off farmer whilst wild camping he can be left guessing if he is levelling a shotgun at a SAS trooper or not
anyways the chap i got it off had replaced in his words the crap fiberglass poles (no argument from me there) with HDPE pipe wrapped in snipers cloth tape which works really well and thus the poles weigh sod all...
and been army surplus special forces
its the only army kit i have had my hands on that acutally has goretex on it
so once pitched which takes minutes
just big enough for 1 and a bag at the head / foot end
Last night i left the front wide open trying to avoid condensation (goretex or not i know moisture can build up) and well woke at about 5am as my shoulders were out the sleeping bag and cold... Thick bloody fog / that drizzle that wets you through had descended
so zipped the door fully shut there was damp on my sleeping bag where it had brushed the bivvy but not overly bad for the amount of moisture that was in the air!
the lad was getting rained on in the single skin one man tent in the background despite the vent been wide open all night... woke to find him in his down jacket looking rather glum but happy i had woken him with a hot chocolate.... guess he will be back in the army synthetic fill artic bag next weekend how the hell he can sleep in it in summer i have no idea i was in my 3 season snug pack in just my boxers and bar the shoulders been out i was mafting

I default to watching old sketches from the fast show or monty python when bored. But I do enjoy EDC videos as long as it's not just middle aged hillbillies dressing up as army men.Deeps wrote:Where are you on Youtube mate, I'll take a look. Here's the vid of when I first bought the Soloista. It goes up really quick and easy. I'll do the same type of vid for the new one tomorrow.
