What's a camel bak ?
Re: 8 items and no more
basically its a big water bottle with a straw, can also be called a bladder... is like a big balloon you can fill with water then you drink through a long hose like strawdiamond lil wrote:What's a camel bak ?

Oh very interesting ta, never seen one of these before.
Re: 8 items and no more
there brilliant for me when im doing my exercises with the army as i can carry more water easily and alot more comfy than water bottles. good for when you've gotta move long distances on foot, the weight is distributed over your shoulders. i can now carry 4 ltrs of water on me through only my camelbak (Which is in a sneaky pouch on the back of my BOB) and a single issued water bottle.diamond lil wrote:Oh very interesting ta, never seen one of these before.

Agree 100% i think they are great, i used to carry two water bottles on my webbing and then extra bottles in my bergen depending on requirements but the camalbak is a far easier system.Bournemouthprepper wrote: there brilliant for me when im doing my exercises with the army as i can carry more water easily and alot more comfy than water bottles. good for when you've gotta move long distances on foot, the weight is distributed over your shoulders. i can now carry 4 ltrs of water on me through only my camelbak (Which is in a sneaky pouch on the back of my BOB) and a single issued water bottle.

especially when they are able to just pour out, brilliant for cleaning wounds, or fake blood on exerciseBulldog wrote:Agree 100% i think they are great, i used to carry two water bottles on my webbing and then extra bottles in my bergen depending on requirements but the camalbak is a far easier system.Bournemouthprepper wrote: there brilliant for me when im doing my exercises with the army as i can carry more water easily and alot more comfy than water bottles. good for when you've gotta move long distances on foot, the weight is distributed over your shoulders. i can now carry 4 ltrs of water on me through only my camelbak (Which is in a sneaky pouch on the back of my BOB) and a single issued water bottle.

Slightly off topic I believe from the topic headline but anyways, if you carry a camelbak, do you carry anything else water bottle wise? I only ask as its wise to carry a bottle as well for sterilising water into. when its sterile, de-cant into your camelbak. Its also easier to use a water bottle for making hot drinks as opposed to losing fluids out of the camelbak when pouring!! Platypus are good for collapsible canteens, as you use water, they reduce in size.
