Having chimney swept next week ..same company and man been doing it 14 yr ..last time he went mad yelling shouting at me ..my heart sinks when I see your address ! Its always filthy is this chimney ..I hate coming here ..look at this ..two loads . If you move dont pass this number on ( they fitted the blooming fire all those years ago )
So ..rang another company explained and said its going to be dirty ..he said yep its my job ..
We will see if he goes off on one
Looking at jackery portable power stations but ..I've no idea whats best ..would want one with a plug socket in it as well as the USB..its a bit of money to fork out if I get it wrong ..so any suggestions would be appreciated
Pseudonym has got a couple of Jackery's, I'm sure he'll be along soon to offer some insight. I am still um-hing and ah-ing about one, because as you say, it's a lot of money to fork out, but I don't want to be in the stampede if/when the announcement comes that the lights will be going out.

We went for this power system but with one solar panel. My adult son (still at home) invested in it and we are paying him back monthly. For us it will be about charging batteries, using the slow cooker etc. For him it's about charging the phones and laptop We've been trying different things on it, working out what we will use through it and what we won't. We call it BABS (big ass battery system).
Wow - did you see the notification on the site?! *Due to overwhelming demand, orders will be shipped out on or before October 20th, 2022.*

We ordered back in August but had it on watch from June for it to come back in stock. Delivery was very quick once we ordered.
But I am not surprised by demand.
I follow a van life site on FB and more and more people are taking to living in vans, also using power units like this.

The whole town is getting it's gas pipes checked over and where necessary replaced next week. Two days max per household with gas turned off.
Making sure I have extra gas canisters for my camping stove and my Jackery's are at full capacity.
Having to empty the space under the stairs is a pain.
No mention of replacing my meter for a Smart meter but I'm sure they'll wrangle that in due to safety. (despite having no problems for the last 50 years)
When they did my sister's street they relocated the gas meter outside in a box.. my dad was supervising.. they were going to mount it on the front of her bay window...
Dad debated the stupidity of the idea and the risk of it being clouted by a car sticking out that far... . a tray of brews later and a pack of chocolate biscuits sense was seen and it was tucked in the corner

Picked up (yet another) head torch that came with an LED flashing armband from Tesco. Plus they have packs of 100 tea lights reduced to clear down to £2, so I picked up a couple of packs.
I need to make a kit list to go in the car over winter ASAP if the weather forecasting rumblings are for a very cold November

Exactly my situation It's getting close to stampede time, I feel, and I really need to pay attention, but I need to buy something ready-made, with the best will in the world I can't buy this that and the other and magically make them do what I want them to do
Well after todays shenanigans with the announcement about energy or lack of i went for it and ordered the Jackery
The stampede will happen and the prices will probably go mad ....
It still hurts forking out so much but it will get used so it softens it slightly ...
I can get them locally 7 quid for 4 and 12 cans for £20
And most know Im not a massive fan of the. Till I found the mix gas ..... Do t be fooled isobutane still freezes
It's confusing, they quote EN 417, which seems to be the spec for the backpacking style ones.
EN 417 is a European Standard concerning non-refillable metallic cartridges for liquefied petroleum gases. The standard specifies material, construction, inspection and marking requirements for cartridges with or without a valve,

I had a bistro stove in the last house, it was great. Just don't want to get one unless I will really need it, as nowhere to store it, this place is jammed solid
