Health is the most important thing!

Indeed it is! I don’t smoke, I drink moderately and I’m walking anything from 15 - 25k steps Monday to Friday. I thought apart from having a belly, I was doing okay for being 50, then the nurse dropped the bombshell.
The gusts of wind that blow me into Greggs are going to have to be resisted…

Dustydog household gonna start back going to the gym, been working away and been way to busy to keep going for last few months, waistline is getting a bit bigger and keeping general health up is a good prep.
Going to start getting plant pots ready for new growing season, try and convince gf that having plenty of food and other essentials in house is a good thing, especially in these uncertain times.

Planted my egyptian Walking onions into pods.

OK. Folks..... Never one to get impatient, here's an update on my egyptian babies. It's got the makings of a time lapse movie.
24 bulblets went into pods. I thought they were individual cloves, but some seem to be bulbs with more cloves.

One has sprouted multiple sprouts to about a centimetre. I'm calling that one baby Kleo
One has popped it's nose out from the compost by barely a millimetre. I'm calling that one Milli.

I'm calling the rest lazy beggars.
C'mon guys. You've had three days. WAKEY WAKEY.
I'm all tensed up in anticipation.

Condition: Rather cold East facing windowsill, damp compost, buried to their necks. Not needed watering. Any that rot will get such a telling off.

At least you didn't tell me off for burying them too deep or drowning them. That was my motive for posting

I was a bit surprised by the slightly bigger cloves actually having multiple cloves/shoots.

I'm not really panicking after just 3 days. In the few hours since I took those photo's, there's the very tiniest bit of green showing on one of the others. Progress!
Half those sets were teensy weensy, but to be fair I only paid for a nominal 10 and got 24. If 10 prosper, I'll be very happy. If they die at my hands ( like last year's tomatoes), I'll get cross at myself. If the weather or disease kills them, c'est la vie.

Patiently awaiting some other seeds from online order. Onions & More onions & Early carrots.

I thank you for your faith in me... or faith in this hardy veg, in spite of me.
You do realise these poor bu66ers will be getting planted out ruthlessly when they reach three inches unless somebody stops me.
The garlic that I planted out seems to be doing fine. Growth has maybe slowed, but no sign of rotting or dying.

I feel the season is on the starting blocks.

Those onions are tough ,they grow in all shapes and sizes,and taste like…onions.

Seeing it is blowing a hoolie in Edinburgh, it’s got me thinking that I don’t have a storm light or lantern.

I was looking at the Robens rechargeable one but I am happy to receive recommendations.

Blowing a hoodie in Edinburgh? I work on the banks of Lake Windermere, our beer garden is now part of the lake, again. . Talking of lamps and torches, looking at getting a Fenix HM70 head torch, already got a Fenix torch and it’s been great, may think about a lantern, let us know what you decide on.
