Sowed a bunch of onion sets.... Not in my allotment or raised bed, but in the border of my front lawn :lol: :lol:
Flowers: Pah!! Who needs 'em.

It's right near my kitchen door so they get a chance of being cared for and harvested as required.

Onion seeds also currently propagating in the windowsill. I never had luck with onion seeds before.

Splashed out on a mini ratchet set with adjustable torque, also includes a chain tool. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KC63MDT/

Having prep food tonight, long life curry. Spice Tailor curry has a year or two shelf life. Naans only have about 3 months, so I need to use them up.

Not a huge fan of rice, but I have some to use up, so I'm going to try hydrating in my flask. Anyone know how long it takes?

preheat the flask. For long grain rice 2 water to 1 rice. Leave 4 hours.

try adding a sprinkle of pilau seasoning.
Or. Orzo pasta or couscous are good substitutes.

I pretty much do prep meal every Friday now. Just for me. Mr JJ goes his own way with a chuckle at what I throw together.

We used to thermos cook rice when camping. You can have it ready a lot sooner than 4 hours but it will keep hot & ready in the thermos for ages. My rule of thumb is to bring water & rice to boil in a pan. Put both in flask and allow double the usual cooking time. So for white rice I would allow about 25-30 mins and for brown it would be nearer an hour. Pasta follows the same basic rule of double time once boiling.
If possible, rinse the thermos with some hot water to help get it up to temperature before the food goes in. Adding cold food to a cold flask and just topping up with boiling water will take longer as the overall temperature will be lower

I nearly choked when I read that. 4 hours! I was gonna see how it was after half an hour. Pasta only takes 11-14 minutes (white 11, wholewheat 14). Anyway, I forgot. I had 1/3 Spice Taylor 400g with 1 long life naan (2 for 69p) and I feel full enough. 500 calories. I'm trying to lose a few pounds I put on.

I might try it another time, instead of the naan.

I can certainly do the hot rinse, not sure about the boil in a pan, too lazy. I'll try it for about an hour. My flask is pretty decent (Thermos brand).

Picked up a little portable heater as an extra backup. Something American rather than Chinese for a change; seems to have a few safety features and a proper manual. £58 new, opened box \ possible cusomer return but works great. Runs off ~450g disposable cylinders but can run off larger ones with a suitable pipe.

Mine is rothenburger branded it has a brass valve head fitted which takes these
