This is the woodlands at the back of where I live just now, it’s a bit grey and there’s drizzle (when is there no drizzle up here?) but I feel a downpour isn’t that far away.

Absolute torrential showers last night & today. Cleared out a suddenly blocked gutter downpipe - dead pigeon, nice 😉

We have had absolutely no rain here in my part of the NW for weeks. The water butt has been empty for a while and we have been avoiding reading our newly installed water meter as we have had to water all of the fruit and veg every night. Last night it rained and filled the water butt by 1/3 which we used to water the fruit trees tonight. It has been raining for the last 3 hours so hopefully things will have filled up a bit again. We will be putting guttering and downspouts on the new shed and installing a couple more water butts. Last night there was an email from United Utilities with a warning to conserve water, the first time I can remember receiving one so early in the year.

Another load of rain here in Manc last night I think. Rain forecast for the next week. Got a couple of deliveries today, so can't go anywhere anyway. Glad I got most of my washing done. Had to put the dehumidifier back on. At least I don't need to water the plants. Honeysuckle has started to grow back in a few places.

Is getting windy. 40 mph gusts, 45 forecast this afternoon.

I came accross this yesterday. Its a reminder that despite the current water issues being mostly due to the extremely dry spring, there are some worrying times ahead.

I’ve always said the next world war won’t be about oil, it will be about something more fundamental.

Access to water and food resources.
