Ok, sounds like you need a certified 0.2 micron rated filter. Tap mounted, or under sink.

For comparison, personal filters like Sawyers are rated to 0.1 micron. Also bear in mind Sawyers and the like aren't designed for continuous drinking for years, they are for backpacking trips.

Neither is small enough to filter viruses. But the risk from these is negligible in tap water, even if it contains biofilm.

Also, run the tap for a minute before getting water to drink or cook with.

We fitted a permanent filter to the kitchen sink to create a drinking water only tap. Doulton have one that is countertop so renter suitable but it isn't cheap.... https://doulton.com/products/d-cs-d-cp-biotect-ultra

If anyone is interested, I have several of these (well a plastic version) I acquired. Brand new, never fitted..... Somebody robbed the filters out, but the Filter company my work supplies with plastic caps (the make Berkey and Doulton compatible filters) will sell Ex, works for about £15 each ( I'd have to buy a box of 24 and split it)
