Someone ..as I cant swear on here. I'll call them someone wrote my car off last night head on in the middle of the night while I'm 70 miles from home ..mine was parked facing correct way so they were on wrong side of road
5 am I was up picking bits of car from the road and the whole radiator is in drivers seat
Not had it long low mileage
Police are online now for this ..don't come out unless a injury so I have a number to help me through ..really comforting..
Hit and run ...and boy did they run noone saw them
Insurance not awake till 9 am but car needs removing as its been shunted 6 foot into a bus stop
340 quid later I'm home ..with invoice ...car and its pieces on drive
Insurance now is hell as its hit and run
No neighbours saw or heard or captured anything ..so they don't want to be involved .cant make them ..and asking about street cctv is like asking for gold bars to be delivered
Apparently a assessor will be in touch amd come and look at it even though they said from the pics its had it .. and then they'll offer me a very low price and I'll argue
I'm fully covered even had green flag who said no ..why..I have cover ...but apparently not the correct cover ..my mistake ..Will be cancelling you anyhow as no ruddy car
So this week even though I have full Insurance I'll be checking the bits they'll say to not give me anything ..and everything else ...get screenshot of same car and make and mileage and the prices theyre going for to let them know the grand they'll offer isnt nice . ..double checking my next breakdown cover covers "someone " smashing the car to bits ..and re reading everything
Thought I had it covered ..not a cheap insurance plus another cover ..fully taxed mot regular service proper tyres
And "someone " can destroy it in a instant
I always say cant prep for everything but anyone out there going for their car insurance or cover or whatever read it a few times ..its easy to look on line and think this looks good ..but the paperwork comes in after youve bought it and oh boy they know how to quote it.

Oh crap that's not good.. insurance should cover recovery.. most breakdown policy's are just that breakdown not accident recovery / accident damage repair... I know Aviva will sort out the car and apparently get me a taxi home etc ..

Many don't know that rac / Flag / alcohol anonymous are not allowed to attend a live lane breakdown on a smart motorway... For example

Keep your alternative transport home receipts as you can claim that as out of pocket expenses but regardless the insurance will probably leather you when you take out a new policy as if it's written off your policy is now over might as well bang in a 12 months policy is £xxx I've 6 months remaining so I want £yyy adding to my out of pocket expenses no harm in trying it on...
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Hi GeeGee

Sorry to hear about your nightmare. Do you have any friends/acquaintances who work in insurance? Our friend was invaluable many years ago in helping us get everything we were entitled to after a write off. (As opposed to what the company offered us.)

If you have the receipts to prove mileage and condition of the car as well as the current price to replace like for like, you are onto a good start. Don't forget anything you usually keep in the car that has been wrecked -e.g. grandkids car seat, battery booster pack, first aid kit, special steering wheel cover etc. And as Andy has said, anything you have had to spend money on simply because the car has been trashed.

Crikey, that sounds bad. I've not had a car for 10 years, so I don't have much knowledge about that sort of thing. Someone did a hit and run on my van in a car park one time, but it was only a dent.

Didn't bother with the AC yesterday. Got some cool air for a few hours in the evening. I shut most of them before bed, but I leave mine, the upper bathroom one, and my door open.
