I rarely even venture into a B&Q as they always seem expensive to me and the nearest is about five miles away. I prefer not to use the dodgy tax avoiding south american river company but at those prices it's not hard to see why they get the custom...
On a more prepping angle harvesting pears , apples and tomatoes at a steady pace. Using up stored timber making things like chests , tables and stools and making a few quid in the process. Got a stern pruning of a couple of hornbeams lined up so that should refill the wood pile a bit. Pity I couldn't find a use for the holly I was trimming this morning...

Decided to set the 'portable' AC up while my room is still cool. So later if it gets hot, all I have to do is turn it on. Plants watered. Shopping done.

My sister's moved back to the UK over the last few days. She was living in Europe for about 30 years.

Waxed the wardrobe in the downstairs front living room. I only really use this room for drying laundry if it's raining. It could easily be converted (back) to a lodger's room if necessary.

Also got a ZZ plant delivered, which I put on the chest of drawers in there, by the window. And I have a large rug and paper lantern coming. I just have a few things to get rid of, and it'll be done.

Amber UKHSA heat alert for the next four days for all of England except yellow in NE. Manchester 29 today, then 33 Wed and 33 Thurs. 33 is hot! Fortunately humidity will be low so Heat Index is only about the same as actual temperature.

There are no warnings from the Met however.

Got blinds tilted, AC set up ready, shopping done.

Got six deliveries this week, including two yesterday. I think it's best to get them all close together, eg over a four day chunk, rather than spread out over a few weeks. Then the date they arrive isn't so critical. For example if Thursday's comes a day early, I'm expecting something else Wednesday anyway. Cuts down the number of wasted days.

In fact, I just got an email saying my Wed delivery is now coming today. This one is Tredz, using DHL, not Amazon. Luckily I was expecting something else today.

I have used the local post office for collection, but you can only do that for some things, so this week it was easier to get everything sent here. But I was puzzled why one item was coming here when I hadn't thought about that. So I investigated. I've think I've found another Amazon issue. I ordered a brush. My default address is my local post office. This brush can be sent there. But Amazon are sending it to my house. They seem to ignore your default, and send it to the last address you used. If that's the case, and you send a present to your mum, your next delivery could go there!
